The Scoop New York is the only news outlet to consider newsworthy taxpayer-funded cruelty toward homeless companion animals, as well as decades of officials’ deliberate abuse — psychological, physical and financial — of the New Yorkers who care about them.

Headlines from Buffalo to Brooklyn
It’s November 8, 2026. This is The Weekly Poop.
This week, as New York City Democratic electeds, including Mayor Zohran Mamdani, feted themselves by the pool, Mamdani’s kill-pound ghouls were getting their kink on. Bigly.
According to TSNY sources, at one point over the past week Animal Care Centers of New York City [sic] had no fewer than 17 dogs in solitary confinement. That means no contact with humans or other dogs — except those crammed in with fellow victims, sources said — no walks, and no getting away from their own waste in cells where they are also fed.
Presumably fed, that is. Though I wouldn’t bet on it.
ACC calls this practice “Transfer Door Only.” As in “Gideon, Rice Cake and Cloudberry were TDO until they took their last walk — to the ACC death chamber.” As eager as Mamdani’s kill-pound screws are to subject their victims to it, we’re gonna go ahead and rebrand TDO with a less euphemistic descriptor: Torturing Dogs Often.
Throwing scared innocent souls in the hole, sometimes for weeks at a time, is yet another example of gratuitous ACC cruelty. Like other varieties of ACC abuse, it is arguably extralegal. And the mayor who courted city animal-lovers for votes is all about it.
Background: As reported by The Scoop New York, cat and dog killings at ACC saw a marked increase over Mamdani’s first five months in office. Mamdani has yet to field one question from the only news outlet covering his kill pound, neither while campaigning nor during the first 10 months of his term.
But he’s not ignoring us. In month six, seemingly to prevent TSNY from reporting what was almost sure to be a continuance of accelerated companion animal obliterations, the Mamdani administration took the unprecedented step of censoring kill data, instantly erasing about half of ACC extermination victims from the public record.
With this decidedly Trumpesque move, Mamdani out-corrupted even Eric Adams, who for all his (alleged) crooked dealings was AFAIK never accused of manipulating a public database for the purpose of gaslighting constituents.
If there’s one thing Mamdani’s ACC defectives love more than torturing, of course, it is applying the needle. Bonus schadenfreude if the victim is visibly terrified, or if their plight tugs at the heartstrings of New Yorkers and other members of the public who pledge and pray for their escape from the people New Yorkers pay to protect the very same cat or dog.
Undoubtedly, Mamdani’s kill-pound goons were particularly hot to destroy poor, terrified Luka.
Along with Luka there was Frogger, and Gideon, and Bello, and Galloway, and Bear, and Chestnut, and Tyrone, and hundreds of other trusting, hopeful, defenseless cats and dogs unfortunate enough to find themselves in the custody of New York City and its callous executive, who either actively means them harm or knowingly leaves them in the hands of underlings who do.
I say “knowingly” due to those many unanswered queries, the latest of which, submitted Friday, informed Mamdani’s PR flacks of the city kill-pound’s intensifying solitary confinement fetish; noted that private citizens who do things like force companion animals to live in their own waste are in New York subject to criminal charges; pointed out that, all things considered, their boss seems to be punishing homeless companion animals as well as New Yorkers who worry over them; and asked if all of the above reflects official City Hall policy and, if not, if there is some other reason behind it.
Naturally, Mamdani’s minions maintained their perfect streak of refusing to account for the boss’ family pet carcass factory. That’s OK by me. I’ve been stonewalled by better people. But it’s pretty fucking far from OK for New Yorkers who expect and deserve answers from the public official who owes them his currently vaunted position in New York’s political hierarchy.
Companion animal fans — including those who still pay out of pocket, or rely on donations from taxpayers, to manage the city’s stray cat population on behalf of the mayor’s defiantly derelict health department — aren’t the only constituency Mamdani exploited on his way to Gracie Mansion, then casually disregarded once he considered them no longer useful.
Like so many little bodies crammed into DOH/ACC garbage bags, discarded and uncounted. The way Mamdani wants it.

NYC DOH ACC Puppy/Kitten Death Row Show
This week, in addition to NYC ACC KILLS coverage of ACC’s most recent puppy/kitten extermination spree, the Death Row Show again asks: Would Harvey Epstein entrust his dog to the city kill pound?
Also: What Zohran Mamdani’s kill pound did to tiny, trembling Frogger as Epstein and his Mamdani propagandist buddy Allie Taylor mugged for the camera, more “TDO” solitary confinement sadism, birthday-pol Lynn Schulman’s ACC abdication, and more.

Here’s the latest New York companion animal news:
You can love companion animals or you can love watching their adoptive families terrorized by the government, but not both.
New York City is seeing an alarming rise in domestic violence incidents, meaning more shitty men are endangering and harming women, children, and their pets.
If NYC ACC was killing one barn owl every three hours 24/7/365 rather than one family pet would city pols and the press corps notice?
Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, the welfare-indifferent “dog lover” and one of the three most powerful people in Albany, thinks that because Democrats had a good day “the paper” should STFU about his possibly illegal and definitely shady pay-to-play “fundraising” shenanigans.
Related: State Senator Jim Tedisco, a Saratoga County Republican who consistently advocated for companion animal welfare measures the Democratic majority consistently failed to deliver, was ousted this week by immigration attorney and “political newcomer'“ Sarah Rogerson. Kill-pound cheerleader Michelle Hinchey must be giddy.
Related: Hinchey’s longtime Assembly kill-pound champion counterpart Donna Lupardo, the Binghamton rep who mercifully resigned her seat this year, will be succeeded by Democrat Dan Norton.
In other election news, John Ferretti, the performatively cruel Hempstead town supervisor who along with his GOP cronies used the notorious local kill pound as a clubhouse of corruption, lost his seat to Democrat Joe Scianablo, who won the rematch of last year’s supe special election.
Regarding Mayor Sean Ryan’s recent announcement that Buffalo has finally settled on a new shelter location, “the bigger question is how Buffalo, and other communities that are facing issues in their own facilities, can provide humane care for animals right now.”
Lollypop Farm in Rochester is waiving adoption fees for senior pets through November.
“Scammers are using AI-generated photos to demand ransom for lost pets”
Finally: Godspeed Todd Friedman and the residents of Sullivan County’s Arthur’s Acres Animal Sanctuary.
